Carboxylated nanocellulose superabsorbent: Biodegradation and soil water retention properties

نویسندگان

چکیده

In this study, TEMPO (2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl)-oxidized nanocellulose superabsorbents are prepared using three different drying techniques: freeze-dried, and oven-dried at low high temperatures. The benefits investigated by evaluating the superabsorbent structure, composition application rate. absorption performance of is affected concentration type salts in soil water extracts. Oven-dried 50°C SAP presents highest ionic sensitivity attributed to its large number accessible carboxylate groups. retention treatments increases with increasing Soil treated freeze-dried shows retention, whereas those amended remain moist longest. biodegradation rate these materials depends on nutrient availability. Carboxylated emerge as high-performance biodegradable for agricultural use, able replace current non-biodegradable petrochemical-based superabsorbents.

Infl uence of Soil Water Retention Properties on Hydrological Cycle and Water Budgeting Module Simulation

Th e complexity of water budgeting module as shown in this paper is represented in phases. By experimental measurement of precipitation and lysimetric measurement of percolation runoff the fi rst phase establishes monthly and annual soil-water budgets of skeletal and clayey soils, and hence the infl uence of soil water-retention potential on hydrologic cycle and water budget over a four year pe...

Multiscale Pedotransfer Functions for Soil Water Retention

Soil hydraulic properties are needed in globaland regionalscale circulation models for hydrologic and climate forecasting. They are also necessary in pointand nonpoint-source contaminant transport models. Prediction accuracy of these models is highly dependent on the quality of the model parameters. Collecting the required soil hydraulic parameters by direct measurement at any model grid scale ...

Efficiency of superabsorbents in improving water productivity

Agricultural residues and various other materials are currently being used as additives to improve the physical and chemical properties of soil. Iran is located in an arid and semiarid region, so using strategies to reduce water use will reduce the problem water scarcity. The use of superabsorbent to increase water uptake and retention is one of the solutions that have been applied to improve w...

Estimating the water retention curve from soil properties: comparison of linear, nonlinear and concomitant variable methods

The unsaturated soil hydraulic functions involving the soil–water retention curve (SWRC) and the hydraulic conductivity provide useful integrated indices of soil quality. Existing and newly devised methods were used to formulate pedotransfer functions (PTFs) that predict the SWRC from readily available soil data. The PTFs were calibrated using a large soils database from Hungary. The database c...

Biodegradation of Soil Contaminants

Many industrial and other human activities resulted in a widespread contamination of soils with various contaminants. Most of these contaminants are toxic to humans and animals . They reach humans and animals through migration into the atmosphere, groundwater and crops I. The pollution became especially disturbing in the past few decades, when the awareness of thi s problem resulted in the enor...
